720 - IG market

Had a chat with my brother few days ago, and he is doing quite well in the shares market currently. He mentioned about his platform, IG market.

Out of curiosity, I went to visit their website, and was totally impressed with it. It looks so simple and friendly. And after spending a few minutes applying an account, I was already using their platform. Even though it was my first few minutes of using it, it already feels so familiar.

Using their charts, I am able to learn more about a company share so quickly. Many things about their platform from application to utilization is so intuitive. I am already thinking of selling all my current shares and moving the funds to that account. It made me think of also transferring my Forex funds there. They have so many financial instruments in one platform. But for now, I think I will stick to GFT for my Forex trading.

Just now, after a few moments of play around with charts in the IG platform, it made me recall something that MasterGunner said.

He says that he will wait a few more Candles around a Resistance/Support zone before deciding where the trend will go. I think he says he wait for around 3 Candles. Maybe I should also start doing that. Currently, I just wait on 1 Candle before enter a trade. Usually the one Candle is a signal which I learned from 'Naked Trader' book.

The signals are also what my trader uncle not know of. He heard of it, but he doesn't use them. Maybe I should also do as what I understand they meant. When the Price hits a zone, observe the Price Action around it for a few more days, before determining if it is a Rebound or a Breakout.

720 - One down

USD/CAD trade down, 3 more to go.

Not looking good at the moment, but well, it is a longer term strategy.

736 - What time is it?

So, today I asked myself, what time in Singapore do Daily Candlesticks close and open a new one?

I was unsuccessful in getting Google to understand what I want, so decided to find the answer using my own trading platform.

Using Hourly Charts, I found out that my platform, GFT, is using the London timing. It is 5:47 pm now in Singapore, and 9:47 am in London now.  So when London is 12 am, Singapore is 8 am in the morning. A new Daily Candle is formed at 8 am in the morning when I am heading to work.

730 - Another last kiss trade

Not sure why recently I keep noticing a lot of Last Kiss signals.

I just entered the above trade, and hopefully the price will head downwards.

Currently I have 4 trades. Hopefully I am able to collect more trades and also have trades surviving.

730 - Another chance for Last Kiss

Woke up at around 4am to watch Man U vs Leverkusen.

Man United won 0-5! Glad that I woke up to watch it, as manager Moyes fielded mostly his first team players. I hope his current mishaps now is only just a starting bump to a long term consistency!

Like what Sir Alex said, he can bring consistency to Man Utd. Same goes to my Forex, I hope I can win consistently in Forex, in a stable, simple way!

Above currency pair is also locked in a consolidation range. Will look to see which side the price will break out of.

734 - Enter trade from previous post

My other 2 trades are losing, and hopefully I don't see 2 or more closed positions tomorrow.

I am on leave tomorrow, and will be watching Man Utd vs Leverkusen tonight!

747 - Last kiss?

I am very unfamiliar with the Last Kiss pattern. But the above seems to be a good example of it.

Price was moving within that range, touching the support line several times. Now it finally looks like it is going to break through downwards. I am just waiting for a retracement. If there is a bearish signal after the retracement, I will enter the trade.

Another strong probability of a bearish trend is you can notice a Double Top pattern. And the 2nd peak is lower than the first peak.

Notebook

Theory of theories
Be yourself. This is the most important theory. The more you experience in life, the more sub-theories there will be. Sub-theories are meant to make you more efficient in different tasks and situations. But whenever I get confused or carried away, 'Be yourself' will not go wrong.

Whenever too obsessed with something
Detach yourself from it. It is not only useless, but also harmful. Having too much negative thoughts will only hinder you from progressing. Having too much optimistic thoughts will render you with big disappointment when things go wrongly. It has to be a balance between thorough consideration and over-thinking.

How to check whenever a task is completed
It do not have to be a tedious progress. The technique I use is 'Top-bottom', which I invented it myself. It is like looking from a top view, and scrutinizing only the most crucial things first to ensure they are right. For example, the final figure. Then slowly proceed into smaller details roughly, and scrutinize when you find something suspicious.

How to set Stop Loss

As for the remaining 7 trades, I adjusted some of the Stop-Losses. How I do it is by imagining that the losing trade makes a comeback. I need to give it enough space for the u-turn. If it exceeds my imagined u-turn limit, then the trade to me is a lost one.
Healthier looking hair

Update: Use conditioner after shampoo. See the conditioner as a 2nd agent to clean your hair from the stubborn wax.

Also, I recently had a hair cut, and I seem to look better without my side burn. The haircut I had was slope, and spiky on the top. Slope has different levels, and mine is no. 2.
  • Wash hair with Dove shampoo (for damaged hair) after returning home.
  • Towel dry and apply generous amount of pure Argan Oil (no alcohol) or Pure Virgin Olive Oil. For me, I press the pump at least 5 times. Think of it like using conditioner, and I need more especially that my dry hair needs to absorb more nutrients.
  • Next day before going out, bathe yourself thoroughly with water. Ensure your hair softens, for easy styling.
  • Apply Purple Gatsby wax after towel dry.
  • Style according to the natural setting of my hair. You can test this by combing your hair behind with your fingers. Notice how the position the hair falls into. So if majority of your hair leans to the left side, do not force it to the right side with wax. It will make your hair look damaged (This is a very important step).
When going out with girlfriend

The main purpose of going out with her is to make her happy. When she is happy, you will also naturally become happy. It is the easiest way to find happiness.

Remember to hug her too. It cures negativity inside her, and it helps you too.

Socializing

update : Sometimes, socializing can become overwhelming and difficult. It is not always you have to be the voice in many situations. Sometimes, just become the quiet one. And after awhile, you can just say something to gain your confidence. But you can always be quiet sometimes.

Speak to gain confidence

My social style took a turn one day, when my friend asked his girlfriend along, and I felt awkward. I am not used to new people in the group, especially girls. Then after quite some time of being quiet, I suddenly felt that I just need to speak whenever there is a chance, to gain back my confidence, to be normal again.

I know that all the while, and I think it is common sense. But it was that special moment in my life that I felt, instilled the purpose in me when communicating with other people. It sort of broke one great barrier in my life, which is my social handicap.

And now, I also enjoy lunch times and gatherings with my colleagues and relatives even more. In the past, I will have certain hatred for certain people, and be offended by what some people says. But now, I speak more with strength and aggression, but not continuously. Many times I just be more calm and non-talkative, but when I speak, I gain confidence quickly, and also regain myself quickly. Not being overly talkative is also important, because it also lets other people to have a chance to speak.

Guess I just found my style of communicating, a style which is able to bring out more confidence and happiness in me. And I hope this is not just a short term thing, but it stays with me, and I can keep improving.

Update :
It is always good to start off as the quiet one first.
Then gradually apply the theory above.
This is so that you do not pile much pressure on yourself first, having to maintain the image of the social one.
So whenever you stop talking, things will not get weird, it will only seem like it was like how you started.

Update 2:
Only remember "speak to gain confidence"
It has all kinds of uses, when you are angry, sad, shy, etc.
You don't have to speak at all times, especially when you are unfamiliar with a topic.
When chances arise, just remember to 'speak to gain confidence'

Update 3 :
Sometimes when you dominated the conversation, and get angry when someone else hustles in, remember its humble beginnings.
Your purpose of speaking is just to gain confidence. Never mind if you need o keep quiet again. Sometimes there are others who know more about a toipic, or are more passionate about something. It is ok to listen, you may also gain something from it.
Just stick to your theory, and if it gains you momentum to dominate the group, so be it.
If not, just remember the roots of the theory, which is just to speak to gain confidence.

Bad breath

I thought that if i drink plenty or water, my mouth and wind pipe will be hydrated.
And therefore, the bacteria that is causing it will be flushed away. It is partly true, but the main problem remains.

The major cause of the bad breath is the accumulation of bacteria on my tongue. Hydrating my mouth may wash down the bacteria on the surface of my tongue, but the thick layer of bacteria still remains. So, the best solution is to brush my teeth.

Especially if you are going out after work. Keep a tooth brush and paste at your workplace. Brush your teeth and tongue before leaving the office. Most importantly, you remove the accumulated bacteria on your tongue.

Forex

  • Strategy is the same, Support and Resistance breakouts.
  • To enter the trade, set Stop above or below the zones.
  • The way to plant a Stop Loss when you enter the trade, is to visualize it going down and reviving again.
  • Monitor all trades daily, looking for opportunities and also adjusting current trades, if necessary.
  • Same theory for adjusting current trades also, use visualization  to imagining it taking a dip, and reviving again. If it goes beyond what you imagined, then there is a chance that the trade is ready to change course and go against you.

  • When alone in public

If you want to feel more relaxed, don't look at anyone.

When you are feeling very negative

    Just know the below :
After awhile, it will be ok

    Theories I apply at Work

    • Keep it simple
    • How to do checking after work is done : Zoom out and see the bigger picture. When you zoom out, you will naturally look out for the most important things first, the things that matter. Following that, you can zoom into smaller details. But it always starts with zooming out first.
    • People judge you mostly by your products. Do not be too bothered by acting like something all the time. The main thing is that if you can produce good products all the time, you are a good subordinate.
    About sleeping

If you have a hard time trying to sleep, test if you can sleep first by sleeping facing upwards.
If you do not feel tired after around 20 minutes, get up and do something til you feel more tired.

Update : Do not sleep during the day.
When you feel tired using the computer, do not go to bed and sleep in the day.
It will mess up your night sleep timing.
Instead, just use your hands to support your head and sleep.
You will be so tired that you can sleep.
At the same time, it will not be so comfortable that you will have a good sleep.
If you sleep like this even for a few minutes and got woken up, it is harder to fall back to sleep.
And you will not crave sleeping anymore.
If you still crave it, repeat the process.
This is a good sleepy killer.
Learnt this from work, especially after lunch.
Pretending to rest your eyes for a few minutes.
When actually you are sleeping for a few minutes.
After being able to fall asleep sitting up, it will reset your alertness.

    When reading
Sometimes, it is frustrating that I take too long to read, due to my mind being distracted. I realized that I can read better it I set my target at the bottom of the book, and want to finish the page as fast as possible.

    Maturity
Sometime ago, I read a great article about what it means to be matured. One of the best thing I can remember about the article is that, when a person is matured, he has control over his own feelings, and do not allow other people of incident to affect it too much. It is about finding the things you like to do. You can just turn to them whenever you feel something does not deserve too much of your feeling and time.

    Hairstyle

Undercut, sides high slope, top long, back just normal slope. Sometimes they may ask if you want the thinner or thicker undercut. Go for the thicker one, which is called no.2. The thinner one looks too punkish, and like a pirate.

    How to style :
    Use blue Gatsby hair jam
Sweep all long hair to the left
sweep the left side of long hair backwards
try to make the rest of the hair stand
    then press it down lightly
then make some of the top of the hair stand

So the main effect will be, it is quite compressed, at the same time a bit of the top creating volume

    Bathroom routine

Shampoo twice in one bath session once a week.
    Exfoliate skin once a week.
Apply 2 pumps of Extraordinary oil to hair daily

    Reading

The whole day I did not go out.
Felt a bit depressed, and went to smoke.
I realized that it is good for the mind.
Not because of the smoke, but because I get out of the house and everything is static.
Reading might also be able to produce the same calmness.
Or even better, as you gain knowledge.
So, the theory for reading should be knowing that it can help you relax your mind.
It is one good method to prevent your thoughts from running wild.
At the same time, it puts in you a calm state of mind.
Just know that when you read, you are helping to relax your mind too.
Relaxing is not about staying at home whole day and watching TV.
If you consistently enjoy in very visually active activities, your brain will not get any rest.
It will result in the build-up of stress, the opposite of calmness.
So, use reading to help you attain the relaxing state of mind.

    Writing

Often in office, I face problems with writing reports.
I tend to give up easily, losing momentum to long and complicated sentences.
You train of thoughts get broken as you look back at the long sentence, thinking if it is beautifully penned down.
The trick is to write in point forms.
It is faster and more direct.
Direct in a way that what you write is what you think.
When you write, you should not have to think about how to phrase the sentence.
Therefore, writing in point form helps you achieve that.
Once you finished writing, you can always go back to rephrasing all that you wrote.

2 things I learnt in Army re-service about social

I took MC and excused myself from the 3 days outfield.
It changed the way I communicated with my friends.
I sounded more low profile, and more polite.
The feeling is like you did something bad, and you try to fit back into the group.
You are more humble, and when you speak, you speak with the purpose of pleasing other people.
Actually, I felt good, and also felt like this is quite a good way to communicate with people.
Before this, I was more out-spoken, and more confident and cocky at times.
But if you read the 48 laws of power, courtiers will actually speak the way I described earlier.
It is because, courtiers are plotting or have a target in mind.
They will either feel guilty, or don't want to rattle the grass, so that they can quietly move towards their target.
To me, when I go back to real life, with my office colleagues, I also have a different mindset when having lunch with them.
Not that I am scheming a move against them, or plotting some big moves.
The mindset I have after the re-service is that, I just want to fit into the group, and spend time with them.
Which brings me to my next point.

In army, there are moments when you are doing something, and people around you start talking.
The other important thing I learnt is that, this sort of chatting is paramount to what you are doing.

Unless you are saving someone's life or solving a big issue.
When people around you start having a conversation, you look aloft if you just carrying on what you are doing.
    It sounds very conformist.
But the crucial thing is that, you might be drawing attention to yourself when you are doing something different what everyone is doing.
    And also, conversations are great!
It is actually the most important thing in life.

There would be no mother love without conversation. (think there is, but may not be as strong)
There is no partner love without conversation. (maybe there also is, I think mute people falls in love)
There is no friendship without conversation. (again, maybe you can use hand signs).
The thing is that, communicating should be one of the best moments of your life.
Your human relationships, make you feel human, and existing in the world that someday we will not be around.
During the re-service, it is also very hot.
The conditions there are unbearable, and everyone is hoping that time pass fast, so that they can go back to their bunks.
And conversations, are the best way to pass time.
It feels good that sometimes, you felt like "o, it is already 6pm!"
Conversations are the best form of entertainment, one of if you think about sex.
In army, conversations help you gain knowledge, makes you laugh, lets you express yourself, helps you build relationships, etc.

Previously, in terms of social, I thought the best way is to "speak to gain confidence".
Sometimes, it has pressure, when there is silence, you tend to want to find something to speak.
And also, sometimes you sound more aggressive, and offending when you try to force your thoughts into a discussion.
Now I feel that it does not really matter.
I just want to fit into a group, and it does not matter if I really like them a not.
When I socialize, I will remember the 2 points above.
But no matter what, there is no best way other than 'Be yourself'.
The 2 points above taught me a good learning experience.
But the only thing I have to remember is to be yourself.

When you fit in, there are many people that it is new to you.
They might intimidate you, make you weak, all kinds.
As long as you fit in, your mind will get used to them, and eventually you will have the experience to speak to many different types of people, and many different types of group.

Update : The previous post I made about socializing is still relevant.
    In fact, very important.
It is the one that says the purpose of speaking is to gain confidence.
It is needed in situations where you feel fearful, or you feel irritated.
Maybe when you do not like what the person is saying, or maybe you just don't like the person.
I am not saying to argue with you or give him a scolding.
Or rather, it is very important to be able to voice your thoughts.
It is important you do so to stop your spiral down into depression.
Yes, I get depressed when suppressed in silence.

1 thing I learnt from my previous relationship

I am not sure about other people, but I always have bad thoughts.
Previously, I always let them spoil my day, and my relationship.
I always have to tell my ex what they are.
It is like exam results which you failed, and needed to get your parents to sign it.

I am a lot happier now.
It is part of me, and for me, it is natural to have it.
Even more so as I am a very analytic person, and I may have a trillion more thoughts than other people.
Unlike last time, I do not say them out, every time a brain cell just produces something that comes into my conscious.
The more you are afraid of them, the more you will think about them.
Just that it as it is natural as humans.
The main thing is that I am a lot happier now, once I know it is natural to have them.

    Exercising

I do exercise to make myself look nicer.
Especially when I want to feel confident when I go to work, go make my girl friend proud of going out with a better looking person.

    Some pointers:
Listen to loud music before starting.
Any kind of music, just blast it louder.
Better still with a superb bassy sound system.
My Creative Sound Blaster Roar does the job.
Loud music will make you want to move.
I was from tired, to motivated.

I do exercise with a floor and dumbbell.
It is configured for my body, for my weak areas.
I train my shoulders, back , chest and biceps.
    Particular my shoulders and biceps.
They will determine how thin I look.
    I only do 3 exercises.
Hindu push-up (for shoulders), normal push-ups (for back, chest and also training for the new IPPT system), and bicep curl.
If you know what muscles you are training, you will naturally do it slower, and also more correctly.
It is because you are thinking about the muscle, and also adjusting your body to help pump the muscle you are targeting.

    Soccer

Relax - most of the time. You conserve energy, and also remain calmer.

Run to spaces - when in your team is in possession. You do not need to look at your team mate, just focus on finding space for yourself.

    Update :

2 theories, one is still to run into spaces.
When our team is in possession, run to open spaces so that people can pass to you. Evade the markers, and be visible to person with the ball.
The other theory is when we don't have the ball. What you can do is do marking. It helps your team to get everyone covered, and also increase your chance of winning back the ball.

    750 - 2 Bearish Pin

Previously I entered this trade, and got closed out.

I came back to the same trade again, as there are 2 Bearish long Pins. I placed my Stop Loss above the high of 2013, and hopefully the Bulls don't successfully break the Resistance Line.

    Sunday, November 24, 2013

750 - Trades and other minor currencies

Enter 2 trades just now, with the minimum lot. The following also shows your the spread of other minor currencies.

    Big Shadow at Resistance zone.

Long Bearish pin at Resistance zone.

I was looking for other currencies which I can monitor, and realized that Singapore currency is also decently low! The rest have like 15 pips of spread and above.
I will add a few SGD currencies to my tracking portfolio.

750 - back to the past, buckle up and go again!

I am back to exactly the same dollar amount when I started using the MG methodology few weeks ago. I closed out all 6 of my trades I had, as I felt that they are too taxing on my overall funds, especially when I am still trying to see if it really works.

Some of the trades have Stop Loss allowance of 300 pips, and each hundred pips cost about $30. If I have all 6 trades closed out at 300 pips, it would cost me $540, which leaves me with $210 in my account.

So for now, I will use the minimum lot size for each trade, which is 1000 units for each trade. If the worst situation as above happens, I should lose around $180. As each bet is lower, it also gives me more confidence and peace to enter more trades. And more trades also equal better diversification.

Just to recap before I restart my week on trading again:

    • Basic idea is to have a pool of trades. Let the winning trades run, cut the losing trades short.
    • My current style of trading is identifying Resistance/Support zone, and observing the Price Action around it.
    • As for Entry, enter after the candle of a good quality signal. (Big Shadow, Pin, Double Bottom/Top, Last Kiss, etc)
    • As for my Exits, I will be playing the Fishing style. Plant Stop Loss at somewhere you do not think it is possible for price to go if it is a winning trade.

And with that, I will commence on trading. Good luck and Huat!

794 - Review of the previous trades

I closed all 4 trades today, but I shall post the aftermath of all 3 today. See if I can learn anything.

Was in selling position. Seems to stay down.

Was in buying position. Seems like losing steam and consolidating at the moment.

Was a buying position. But it goes back up again.
    Re-entered.

Today's conclusion is that I should let the Stop-Loss close the trades by itself, same as what MasterGunner is doing. If I do that, my CHF/JPY would have survived. But partly it is also because I need to close all positions to make adjustment to my trading platform.

    794 - Still a profit

Closed all my trades today in office using my Samsung S2 phone. Did not wait for the Stop Losses, as I saw some Big Shadows developing. Since I closed all my trades, I took the chance to change my account to Position Trading, which means that the price I entered will not be restarted at the start of a new day. They required me to close all my positions before they can activate it for me.

Anyway, I did not place any trades yet, but placed 5 Stop sell/buy. I also increase my bet size to 3,000 units, instead of 2,000.

Pierced the Resistance zone and went down again with a Big Shadow. Set a Stop Sell, and a Stop Loss.
Support line tested 3 times, and developed a green Big Shadow. Hoping the price will surge upwards.

Tested the Resistance zone 3 times, and formed a very long and nice Big Shadow. Will only enter the trade after the recent lowest low.

This is my previous trade, which I closed it this morning. Will give it another chance to go upwards.

This also tested the Resistance 3 times and formed a long red Big Shadow. Will enter when it goes below the recent lowest low.

    817 - New logo?

Currently contemplating if I should change the logo of this blog. Been feeling that the current one is too similar to Nial Fuller's website.

Since I have no readers to give me opinions, I should put the 2 logos together and ask myself the question. lol

So which one do you think, me?

From the looks of it, the current one still seems nicer.

    812 - Monday blues

Today, movement is very mild. But I managed to find something that looks like a pretty set-up.

The Support zone is very obvious, being tested 4 times as you can see above. After a fourth touch, a bullish Big Shadow formed.

For my other 3 trades, I also adjusted the Stop Losses to be slightly closer to the current price, bearing in mind to preserve some distant for price to roam.

    822 - Stop Loss adjustments

Above are my adjusted Stop Loss, following the theory from my previous post. I also added a black horizontal line, which is my entry point.

    821 - Fishing

So now I have open positions, the next thing I have to start learning is how to play with it. Basically, the main idea is to

    • cut your losses short, let your profits run

How I see it is like fishing. Your have to monitor every trade, and move the Stop Loss with how the trade progresses. The key to it is to set the Stop Loss in a sweet spot. It is a balance between
    • Losing trade, quit it early
    • Winning trade, the Stop Loss should have enough allowance for volatility
So it is something like Fishing, you have to strike a good balance between not snapping the line, and also reeling in the Big Catch.

Always have the mentality that each trade has the potential to be a massive win, and learn to Stop it skillfully for a realistic profit.

The one theory to remember when fishing is :

See each trade as a potential big win, and place the Stop somewhere you do not think it will go.

    809 - A look back into history

Just now, I went to open my account history.

I opened my GFT account in May 2010, while I was still working in HP.
The total amount of money I put into trading ever since was S$1,750. Why is this important? So that when I make over this amount, I know I broke even, after a long journey. So, it is a great milestone. And it can also prove that my trading is finally working.

But my current milestone is to break S$850 in my account, as I haven't had that much since August 2013. It will be pretty sweet when I am starting to make money, and look back at taking revenge at whatever I lost. I hope and wish badly everyday that I become the 5% of traders who make money.

But I still have some way to go, and I really hope my different trading method this time works.

Above is a rough idea how many Pips I made. Not sure if I am very lucky or the new methodology is very good. I am positive on all 3 trades.

Below are my current 3 trades.

    759 - Manni

I am screening 24 currency pairs now, the same as MasterGunner.

I am thinking of entering the above trade, as a Big Shadow appears after being rejected by the Support zone. Currently the Candle is red again, might see how this current Candle closes first.

This trade of mine is not going too well. But I will see how thing develop. Might close it if the current Candle closes as a red Big Shadow.

Also monitoring this one, as a Big Shadow appears after the double zero zone, which is also a Resistance zone. The Candle is also in the red now. The Big Shadow is also not that distinctive.

The above has a massive Big Shadow, very tempting to enter the trade. It has rebounded fiercely from the Support zone.

Another of my current trade, doing very well.

    751 - Fast and furious

My 2nd trade of the night.
From what I learnt from Naked Trader book again, there is a double bottom.
And the 2nd bottom is slightly higher than the previous bottom, which makes it a more certain Bull.
Just that I entered the trade a little late. But I am gunning for big.

    750 - MasterGunner

    http://forums.babypips.com/show-me-money-swing-trading/50672-forex-portfolio-how-gain-consistent-profits-staying-market-24-7-a.html

Currently I am learning from the above forum-er in BabyPips.

You can read from the beginning of his thread, which has more than 100+ pages now.
The introduction of his thread is very enticing, and I think the number of pages in his thread shows that he should be taken seriously.
Was reading his thread in office today, and I jumped straight into action once I am back home from office.

Above is a trade I just entered.

I am currently following 16 different currency combinations now.
And to scan them fast, I follow 2 quick and simple steps.
    • Lookout for resistance/support horizon
    • Read the Price Action
The above current price is along a Resistance horizon.
You can see a Big Shadow and also a Pin developing.

I now use the minimum micro-lot, which is 1000 lot. This is because I will be looking to trade many charts, to diversify. Therefore I can only trade the minimum for each.

One important thing about MasterGunner is that he always aim big. That is why you do not see me place a Limit Stop in the above chart. In fact, he normally will not use a Stop Loss too. He aims for very big movements, and will only give the trade up once he see that the Price Action is working against him.

Anyway, my above trade is also going against how he trades. He is actually a Trend trader.

For losing trades, MasterGunner will hold them for less than a week. For winning Trades, he can hold them for 2 weeks and more.

    751 - Understanding history

Today, I spent time looking at monthly charts. I think that it is actually the best way to learn about the market, and how it works. Surprisingly, every chart has a beautiful story to tell. And good thing is, I naturally love history. I have always loved to visit historical places.

So what have I learnt today? The biggest movement in markets is actually the ambitions of the governments and their central banks. What they plan, and announce they will do, will have the biggest impact that could last for many months.

Take a look at the chart about. Due to my weak knowledge of the economy, I will only point out 2 obvious movements in the JPY/USD Monthly Chart.

    • USD slide from 2007 onwards to 2012, as 2007 is the start of the their QE program.
    • Around close to 2013, Japan's Abe announces that the JPY is too strong, and wants to weaken it.

Above is the UK pound vs US$. The crazy slide in 2008 is due to Gordon Brown's policy to devalue the Pounds, in an effort to prop up their economy.

If you know the intentions of different governments, you will have hell a lot of an easier time. Looking only at short term charts might drive you mad, as there are many instances that some short term happenings, rumors or announcements will bring your trade to a Stop Loss.

The point is that is it good to know the bigger picture. If there is an announced intention of a country's governments, it is better to start shorter term trading in the same direction.

    756 - SGD

Bet on the USd to appreciate against the SGD. There is actually a  Bullish Big Shadow forming at the previous low. But the main reason why I bet on SGD to fall is because US job data showed positive results, and the motivating sentiment should be likely to last for days or weeks.

    745 - Chat with uncle

Had a chat with my uncle, who is also a trader. After awhile, I realized that he and my other trader friend in army also trade in the same way. They actually trade the market, and less so focus so much on technical analysis.

The difference between Market traders and News trader is that Market trading is more long term. News trader takes action once a news is realized, taking advantage of the emotions of people when the news are released.

Market trader read often and update themselves. They are like a compilation of News trader, who gather information and try to use it to make sense of the market. They come to a conclusion where the currency should be heading. That is why it is important to understand the fundamentals of the market. Using various reports to understand where the market will be heading, and how it will affect the currency.

My uncle mentioned that the Market is more important than Charts. Does the Market moves the Chart or does the Chart moves the Market? Understanding the market will give you a good prediction about what will happen to the chart. Spend more time thinking, understanding and predicting the market, then you use the charts to help you enter a trade.

    750 - Price Action Notes

Price Action strategy mainly consist of 2 most important factors.

Resistance/Support lines and Price Action. They have to exist together to form a confluence.

The faster way to look for any opportunity to trade this strategy is to actually scan for any Price Actions signals first.
    • Pin
    • Big Shadow
    • Head n' Shoulders
    • Inside bars
The reason is because these signals happen rarely, and there is no point in wasting time looking at Resistance/Support zones when the signals are not there yet.

Also, use 4 hour instead of Daily charts, as there is a higher frequency of Price Action. 4 hours is also the minimum recommended by Nial Fuller, any lower time frame will have a plenty of noise on the chart.

    750.84 - A review, my 50 bucks :(

Regarding about my previous post, I realized that my trade actually don't follow a rule in the Naked Forex book, under 'Kangaroo Tail'.

The closing price of my signal Candle is supposed to be below the opening price, if I am shorting it. Even though the signal Candle has a long tail on the resistance line, it does not fulfill it.

    Remember, the 5th of November.

    Make my 50 bucks worth.

750.84 - oops, there goes my money again

It rose to poke my Stop Loss, and I lost around $50.

Man... when can I really start winning?

One of the things you have to teach your child is for him/her to be resilient. Integrity too. I have to train myself to be resilient, in what I believe in. I believe that I can make it in Forex, and I must carry on.

    790.41 - New rules

    1. Switch to Daily Charts and locate a Range Market
    2. Draw Resistance/Support lines
    3. Switch to 4 Hour Charts and observe Price Actions around the zones

Entered another trade tonight, this time using a 4 Hour chart.

Nice long pin there, price seems to be rejected by the resistance line.
It is also the highest point for a while, with space on the left side.
Stop-loss at about 75% of the Candle at the tail.
Stop-profit before the next support, and it is also profit ratio of 2:1.

    Hope for the best!

    795.86 - Closed out

The trade exploded upwards, and closed me out. Good thing is that I did not lose so much.

The spread is really taxing. Do not feel it is value for money. I think I will not be day trading with short period candles. But it gave me a good feel about how to trade price action.

What I learnt is that you need to find a market that is within a range, opposite of a trending one. That is also what Kathy Lien said, that you need to identify the market first. And what Nial said, he is a contrarion trader. So naturally, markets that are always moving up and down, bouncing off resistance/support zones will be relevant.

Guess that now I will be trading high time frames. And I have to have the mentality of a sniper. Even though trades come very rarely, once the chance comes, I better give a good shot at it. And of course, do it defensively, and now give all your nuclear arsenal when you see an opportunity. Take a good shot at it, but still keep some ammos in your pocket.
